TIME/TV: 7:05 p.m., YES Network

WEATHER: Kind of like last night. Not too hot with a nice little breeze whipping through the stadium. It’s nice.

UMPIRES: HP CB Bucknor, 1B Lance Barrett, 2B Tom Woodring, 3B Dan Iassogna

REHABBING: Michael Pineda is making his second rehab start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight. He’s supposed to throw roughly 65 pitches. Could be — or should be — his final rehab start before rejoining the big league rotation.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: According to Elias, the Yankees are 26-1 this year when scoring first in a home game. Overall, they’re 51-16 when scoring first and they’ve scored 99 first-inning runs, the most runs by any team in any inning this season.

ON THIS DATE: It was on August 21, 2013 that Ichiro Suzuki got his 4,000th career hit. He got 1,278 in Japan and — at the time — had 2,722 in the Majors. No. 4,000 came on a first-inning single off R.A. Dickey.

UPDATE, 7:31 p.m.: Gardner led off the first inning with a single and he stole second, but the Yankees left him stranded. Scoreless after one.
