TIME/TV: 1:05 p.m., FOX

WEATHER: Plenty of sun. A nice afternoon for a game.

UMPIRES: HP John Hirschenbeck, 1B Laz Diaz, 2B John Tumpane, 3B James Hoye

ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE: After hitting cleanup last night, Chris Young has now made a start in every spot in the order this season.

GOOD ON THE ROAD: Remember earlier in the season when the Yankees had trouble on the road? Well, that’s changed. Even after last night’s loss, the Yankees have the second-best road record in the American League — and fourth-best in the Majors — at 39-34 this season. Since July 1, they’re an AL-best 19-11 on the road.

ON THIS DATE: It was on September 19, 2011 that Mariano Rivera recorded his 602nd career save, surpassing Trevor Hoffman for the most in baseball history.

UPDATE, 1:13 p.m.: Single, single, home run. Not a bad way to start the game for the Yankees. They’re up 3-0 before making an out.

UPDATE, 1:48 p.m.: Really nice play by Chase Headley to help Pineda out of the second inning, now a really nice play by Conforto to help Syndergaard here in the third. Still a 3-0 Yankees lead.

UPDATE, 2:11 p.m.: This tall guy with all the hair pitching for the Mets has retired 12 in a row since the Beltran homer.

UPDATE, 2:17 p.m.: Brian McCann has become awfully good at throwing out base stealers. Strike ‘em out, throw ‘em out to end the fourth.

UPDATE, 2:25 p.m.: Leadoff triple by Ackley is left stranded in the fifth inning. Only base runner Syndergaard has allowed since the first inning.

UPDATE, 2:39 p.m.: Two-run homer by McCann has pushed the lead to 5-0 in the sixth inning. The Yankees love the multi-run homer.

UPDATE, 2:59 p.m.: Pineda’s game is finished after 5.1 (so far) scoreless innings. He leaves with two on for Justin Wilson to handle Daniel Murphy. Strong start.

UPDATE, 3:08 p.m.: Two huge strikeouts for Wilson to keep the shutout going. Left the bases loaded. Big time stuff from Wilson right there.
