TIME/TV: 8:08 p.m., ESPN

WEATHER: Not a bad weekend for the Subway Series. It’s a nice night, just wish it weren’t so late.

UMPIRES: HP Laz Diaz, 1B John Tumpane, 2B James Hoye, 3B John Hirschbeck

WINNING STREAK: The Yankees need one more win to clinch their 23rd consecutive winning season. Their 22 straight seasons above .500 from 1993-2014 mark the second-longest such streak in Major League history, trailing only the franchise’s streak of 39 straight winning seasons from 1926-64.

30-FOR-30: According to Elias, Carlos Beltran’s three-run homer on Saturday marked his first career game-winning RBI against the Mets (in his 25th career game against his former team). He?now has tallied a game-winning RBI against all 30 Major League teams, making him the only active player to achieve that feat.

ON THIS DATE: It was on September 20, 2010 that the Yankees dedicated a monument to George Steinbrenner in Monument Park. They went on to beat the Rays 8-6 that night. Thirty years earlier, on September 20, 1980, the Yankees dedicated a plaque to Thurman Munson.

UPDATE, 8:20 p.m.: Harvey’s night started with back-to-back strikeouts. Sabathia’s has started with back-to-back doubles.

UPDATE, 8:38 p.m.: Sabathia left the bases loaded to get through the inning with just the one run. He’s already thrown 32 pitches.

UPDATE, 8:43 p.m.: Girardi not at all happy with the swing call on Bird, but apparently he was not tossed from the game.

UPDATE, 8:45 p.m.: Sharp line drive by Ackley, but it’s right to the second baseman. Still 1-0 Mets in the middle of the second.

UPDATE, 9:18 p.m.: Sabathia has retired seven in a row.

UPDATE, 9:23 p.m.: So Girardi has been ejected. Also missing from this game: The Yankees’ offense.

UPDATE, 9:31 p.m.: Two-out double by Cuddyer is the Mets’ first hit since the Wright double in the first inning. Sabathia’s going to walk Lagares to face Harvey.

UPDATE, 9:58 p.m.: Sabathia is through five innings with just the one run. Really nice effort on his part. Pitch count getting close to 100, though.

UPDATE, 10:03 p.m.: That’s a two-run double for Carlos Beltran. Yankees ran into some luck with bad throws by the Mets, and now they’ve cashed in to pull ahead 2-1 in the sixth inning. Still no outs and a runner at second. Prime opportunity to do some more damage here.

UPDATE, 10:17 p.m.: Two-out, three-run homer by Ackley. The Yankees have a 5-1 lead and just might have a new second baseman.

UPDATE, 10:57 p.m.: Been completely unable to update the blog for a while now, but apparently we’re back up and running. Ackley has hit a three-run homer, the Mets’ bullpen has walked in another run, and Sabathia has pitched through the sixth while allowing just the one run. Rumbelow just handled the seventh, and the Yankees are up 6-1.

UPDATE, 11:06 p.m.: A-Rod walks. Noel steals second. Ellsbury drives in the run. Three hits for Ellsbury today (should be four, but there was a weird scoring decision in the third inning).

UPDATE, 11:14 p.m.: Yankees are now up 8-1 in the eighth. No reason Wilson, Betances or Miller should have to pitch this game. Other relievers really have to finish this off so the bullpen can be at full strength in Toronto.

UPDATE, 11:16 p.m.: Greg Bird with a three-run shot and it’s 11-1. Matt Harvey’s innings limit, man.
