Another gaming firm is making sure that it has enough clout to be heard during the next session of the state Legislature.
We’re told that Penn National Gaming has signed up the lobbying firm of Massey, Watson & Hembree – the second company to show signs of interest in challenging the state’s long-held aversion to casino gaming.
MGM Resorts International announced plans this spring to back legislation, already introduced, that would permit the construction of an $800 million, Vegas-style casino in Atlanta.

In aggregate, Penn National’s operated facilities feature approximately 31,000 gaming machines, 760 table games, 3,080 hotel rooms and property square footage of 9 million.
Penn National Gaming this spring announced it would establish a presence in Las Vegas with the acquisition of the Tropicana casino on the Strip.
