Swish!

Starz has renewed Atlanta-based comedy “Survivor’s Remorse” for a third season just two episodes into season two.

Ratings hit a series high this past Saturday with 1.34 million same-day viewers.

The show, currently paired with Patrick Stewart‘s new comedy “Blunt Talk,” features an Atlanta basketball player Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher) who just signed a huge contract and moves his family to a beautiful Buckhead mansion. LeBron James is an executive producer and it’s loosely based on his life.

“My heart skipped a beat and I was driving,” texted Erica Ash, who grew up in Decatur and plays Cam’s feisty sister M-Chuck. “I screamed a little and just kept saying, ‘Thank you Baby Jesus!’ ”

RonReaco Lee, who plays Cam’s manager and cousin, emailed this reaction and this is someone who has been in the business a good three decades so he knows what he’s talking about:

Beyond excited! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the characters. The First season of a show tends to deal a lot with exposition…who these characters are and where they’ve come from. Second seasons tends to feature more of the same. But third seasons…they’re always fun! The cast and the writers really settle in and shows really takes shape! Couldn’t be more excited that Starz is giving us a chance to really grow!

My profile of RonReaco Lee (Reggie Vaughn) from August 20.

Preview of season two from August 14.

“We are thrilled to renew ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ for a third season, ” said Carmi Zlotnik, Managing Director of Starz in a press release. “Since it began, the critics instantly embraced the show, and now we’ve seen its fans grow season over season. This all-star creative team, led expertly by Mike O’Malley, boldly tackles the most topical of issues with heart and humor as the Calloway family deals with ‘pro-money and pro-problems’ off the basketball court. We are very happy and proud to have them return to STARZ for another season.”
